Issa novel type of caption๐Ÿ˜… As I near the end of my 26th year of life yโ€™all I am grateful. The year wasnโ€™t easy. There are a lot of obstacles that can come from being a tall, black woman in medical school, in a place where Nigerians are not plenty so your name is beyond foreign (despite the 11 letter long Dutch names that are rampant and pronounced with ease๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ), in a space (Medicine) where people of color are still few, where natural hair is not common place, where people are intimidated by your physical being despite the smile, and where many are not exposed to the intricate layers of their own biases. Having to navigate this and more, while trying to study, deal with the day to day, find research, handle extracurricular responsibilities, spend time with the Lord, dodge the โ€œwhereโ€™s ya husband, where are my grandkidsโ€ bullets LOL, catch up with and support loved ones near and far, drink water, eat and breathe, work (cause out of state loans arenโ€™t pretty) and indulge in my creative passions haaaaa has tough oooo! But my God is an #AbleGod and somehow, he brought me thru, gave me a community here in this sweet town..and helped me to grow internally and healโ€ฆno matter where I will work or live in the future, I have to be able to navigate the obstacles that come, and every hurdle God takes me over is adding to my story, adding to my ability to be patient for the next unknowing person who puts their foot in their mouth so I can educate with love and forgive with ease. All this to say, 27 is gonna be lit. Filled with more obstacles, more chances to love and spread light, more people to lean on when I pick up too many burdens..and more countries to visit and have my photo taken by strangers. While standing in the sun. Smiling. Lol let the countdown begin ๐Ÿ˜‰#ososeetheworld #aquariusseason not that I know what that even means ๐Ÿ˜‚ #abudhabi

There is something unspoken About seeing with your eyes closed A red hue of heat waves dancing in your periphery You stretch your hands the sun caresses your palm Like a taboo We all beg to be seen and not heard To become a part of the horizon Seeing with your eyes closed And palms outstretched The colours of your soul dance in front of you The blindness is gone And we are every colour Of the rainbow โ€“ @mariam.kay ๐Ÿ“ธ by self (using my phone timer) โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Happy new year ๐Ÿฅณ What are your new year travel resolutions? Mine are to: โ€“ visit 10 NEW countries โ€“ do more cultural immersive trips โ€“ share more knowledge about how to travelling more. 2019 is indeed our year! Itโ€™s good to be back Love you always, Black.kintsugi ๐Ÿ’•

Ok about the sua trench, Iโ€™m seeing a lot of photoshopped pictures. With fake vegetation around and when I got there it was beautiful donโ€™t get me wrong but it wasnโ€™t what I had seen online. Donโ€™t believe check the hashtags. As a traveller I use IG for inspiration, and now esp after this experience, I no longer depend on it as realistic source of information. The world of photoshopping is REAL. To prove to u how real it is. I photoshopped the hundreds of ppl in the water out, could you tell? Moral: IG should be a tool for inspiration, donโ€™t use it and expect complete accuracy. This applies to ppl, places, and lifestylesโ€ฆ. ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ธ #picoftheday #apia #samoa #suatrench #blacktravelworldwide #travelnoire #weworktotravel #mytravelcrush #mytravelcrush #travelisthenewclub #roadto100countries #nomadness #blacktravelfeed #digitalnomad #soulsociety #instatravel #travelgram #sologirltravel #natgeo #blacktraveler #melanintravel #indiantraveller #canadiantraveller #blackgirlstravel #wanderlust
